"Sun Withered Green" is a certified organic tea, grown on the southern slope of Ma Wei Mountain in the Simao region of Pu'er City in Yunnan Province, China.

It is a tippy style (1 leaf + 1 bud) green tea that was harvested in March 2026.

The tea is withered in the sun before it is rolled, oxidized, dried and packaged.

This green tea is unique in that it can be steeped six to eight times, unlike most other green teas which are brewed only three times.  The key is to brew it for only a few seconds before pouring the liquid from the tea pot to the pitcher or tea cup(s).

The taste of the tea changes depending on the temperature of the water and amount of steeping time.  Experiment with these variables until you find the ideal water temperature and steeping time that creates your ideal cup of tea.

Brewing Recommendations

Proportion: 4g of tea per 100ml purified water

Ideal Brewing Vessel: Porcelain tea pot or gaiwan; or high-fired, low profile thin clay teapot if only used for green tea.

Gong-Fu Style (recommended): Flash brew in a gaiwan for a few seconds. Immediatley pour into a fairness pitcher (gong dao bei) to prevent astringency. Brew again six to eight times, prolonging the steeping time with each subsequent brew.

Teapot Steeping: Boil water to 175F/79C and then wait for the water to stop bubbling before pouring the water down the inside of the brewing vessel, not directly on the leaves. Brew for 60 seconds, then replace the lid and pour the liquor into a gong dao bei (fairness pitcher) before apportioning into tea cups.  Steep the tea a second time for 30 seconds. For the third and fourth steepings, infuse at a lower temperature(~140F) for 1-2 minutes or more. Remove the lid of the brewing vessel to allow the leaves to cool between steepings. Flash brewing in this manner ensures this tea can be brewed up to 3+ times.

Cold Brewing: Place 10g of tea in a pitcher. Pour 4 cups of cold, purified water down the side of the pitcher, not directly on the tea leaves. Can be enjoyed within two hour or brewed overnight for a stronger flavor.
