Heart Opener Red Tea is a red tea blended with heart-opening cacao nibs and rose petals.  The first brew offers a dark bitter Belgian chocolate palate, a sweet whiskey aroma, and a light rose finish.  Cacao gives the sensation of the heart opening, filling with love, and opens our connection with ourselves and others.  Rose and cacao are herbal aphrodisiacs, bringing about feelings of pleasure and bliss.  Sweet Madagascar vanilla beans add comfort to the mood and come into their full flavor in the second brew.  

Cacao contains theobromine, a substance that is released into the blood stream and increases blood flow to the brain.  Focus and awareness are piqued by the ample oxygen provided by the abundant blood flow.  Theobromine positively influences mood and state of alertness. 

In addition to having a positive effect on moods, cacao is known to have high levels of antioxidants, anti-inflammatory agents, and vitamins and minerals.   

Heart Opener Red Tea is high in caffeine and is best enjoyed as a morning kick or an afternoon recharge.  Drink it as a hot chocolate-type beverage after 5 minute steep session, or top it with steamed and frothed milk for a heart opening latte (see Brewing Recommendations).

Red (black) tea contains 40-60mg of caffeine per 8 oz cup. One teaspoon of cacao nibs contains 4.6mg of caffeine.

Brewing Recommendations

Serving Size: 5g per 100ml of purified water.

Ideal Brewing Vessel: Glass Ethoz Tea Brewer; Glass Lotus Easy Gaiwan; Porcelain Tea Pot or Gaiwan.

Western Style Brewing: Heat water to 212F/100C. Steep for 5 minutes the first brew. Steep a second time for 15 minutes. The first brew tastes of chocolate and the second brew tastes of vanilla.

Latte: Brew 4 tsp of Heart Opener Red Tea in 250 ml of boiling (212F/100C) water for 5 minutes. Add steamed milk and top with frothed milk and cinnamon.
