Let the blend of peaches and green tea lift your morning spirits and elevate your next tea gathering.  Fresh peaches are sliced, dried and blended with our Emerald Spring saemidori sencha green tea for a taste that evokes a bright spring morning.

Saemidori means "light green" which represents the color of this tea's elixir.  This sencha is shade grown and lightly steamed (asamushi) in Miyazaki Prefecture on Kyushu Island, Japan's southernmost island.  Warm temperature days and low temperature nights area ideal growing conditions for the best teas.

Saemidori was developed in 1969 when Yabukita (Japan's most popular tea bush) was crossbred with Asatsuyu (a tea bush known as naturally grown Gyokuro).  Saemidori is rich with almost no bitterness and a delicate, fresh aroma.

Enjoy it as a warm tea or a cold infusion.  See Brewing Recommendations below.

Tea Specifics

Ingredients: Saemidori Sencha Green Tea, Peach Nibs

Location: Miyazaki Prefecture, Kyushu Island, Japan

Green tea contains about 30-50mg of caffeine per 8oz cup. Higher temperatures and longer steeping times both increase the amount of caffeine released into the liquor.

Tasting Notes

Delicate peach, fresh aroma, clear liquor, clean flavor, umami

Brewing Recommendations

Serving Size: 3g (1 tsp) per 100 ml (3.5 oz) of purified water.

Ideal Brewing Vessel: Porcelain tea pot or gaiwan; or high-fired, low profile thin clay teapot; or glass brewer for cold brewed tea.

Steeping: Boil water to 160F/70C and pour the water down the inside of the brewing vessel, not directly on the leaves. Brew for 1 minute, then replace the lid and pour the liquor into a gong dao bei (fairness pitcher) before apportioning into tea cups.  Because the most flavorful elixir is at the bottom of the tea pot, be sure every drop of tea is poured into the pitcher. Remove the lid from the brewing vessel between steepings. For the second steeping, brew only 30 seconds. For the third steeping, brew at a lower water temperature (~140F) for 2+minutes.

Cold Brewing: Place 10g of tea in a pitcher. Pour 4 cups of cold, purified water down the side of the pitcher, not directly on the tea leaves. Can be enjoyed within two hour or brewed overnight for a stronger flavor. Sweeten if desired.
