Black & White Glaze on White Clay Hand Painted Blowing Leaves Handmade Chawan Matcha Bowl (Large)
This is an authentic Japanese handmade artisan chawan ("tea bowl") (cha = tea; wan = bowl). A chawan is commonly used as a matcha bowl, but a chawan is good to use for other teas as well.
This bowl looks beautiful when enjoying bright green ujicha and koicha matcha. It is also the ideal size for passing a bowl of matcha during Japanese tea ceremonies.
Use it as a large tea cup for when you are enjoying tea for one. You can skip using a fairness pitcher (gong dao bei) because the bowl is large enough for an entire tea pot's volume of tea.
Use it to drink your tea "Grandpa-style" by putting tea leaves in the bowl and covering with hot water, allowing the leaves to settle on the bottom of the bowl. Drink off the top and refill with hot water several times throughout the day.
Use it as a waste bowl to discard rinse water during your daily tea practice.
Or use it for anything or anywhere you'd like to add a touch of unique beauty.
This chawan is 11.5 cm wide, 7.5 cm tall, and has a volume of 450 ml.
